No. The headset itself has no battery or electronics - your phone provides the screen and processing, so there's nothing to charge and nothing to run out of.

Most people won't need to. Each eye has its own independent focus adjustment covering up to 800° of short-sightedness, so you can dial in your own prescription instead of wearing glasses inside the headset.

Any VR-compatible app or video works, including YouTube VR, 360° videos, VR cinema apps that project a giant virtual screen for normal films, and Google Cardboard-compatible games.

A proper adjustable head strap for hands-free wear, coated optical lenses for a sharper image, a wider 120° field of view, and independent eye-by-eye focus - none of which cardboard viewers offer.
